About Northern Heart

Northern Heart are award-winning storytellers and documentary filmmakers, championing inspirational stories and authentic voices.

They partner with charities, NGO’s and purpose-led brands who believe in the power of emotive storytelling to change hearts and minds.

Norther Heart’s films aren’t the end of a process – they’re the spark to ignite a bigger conversation, meaningful action and genuine change.

They’ve won numerous awards for their work, which has made it as far as international film festivals and even the Houses of Parliament.

All from a friendly base in the North West of England.

In 2024 Northern Heart was granted the BBC’s Small Indie Fund.

Northern Heart Doc Fund

Northern Heart recognises that Northern voices are under-represented in front of and behind the camera, with many barriers to industry. So, they’ve created a scheme to nurture emerging Northern voices to influence change in the industry from the ground up.

They support new talent with funding, mentorship, access to industry and a platform to display their work, empowering them to grow as confident documentary makers.

In 2024 the Northern Heart Doc Fund is supporting six emerging Northern filmmakers.
