|
Shine recently caught up with the legendary rap group Three 6 Mafia. Check out what they had to say about today's hip-hop, why they're rap veterans and what they'd like to be remembered for most! Shine: Does the group still consist of the original members from the 90's? Three 6 Mafia: No, it's just four people. DJ Paul, Lord Infamous, Juicy J and Crunchy Black. Shine: How has your music changed since your first album in '95? Three 6 Mafia: We got double the bass and better equipment! I wouldn't say it's changed...it's enhanced. Shine: What has helped you have such longevity in hip-hop? Three 6 Mafia: Good music! Shine: How do you think hip-hop has changed since you first got started? Three 6 Mafia: It's taken over! Hip-hop's in commercials, TV shows, movies--everywhere. It done took over! Shine: Do you think southern hip-hop gets more recognition today than it has in the past? Three 6 Mafia: You better believe it! Shine: Your new album is titled Most Known Unknowns. What do you mean by that? Three 6 Mafia: We just thinkin' about, you know, we known, but we ain't known. Lots of people ain't familiar with that, so we lettin' people know the history of Three 6 Mafia. Shine: You recently released your second DVD, Choices II. What made you decide to produce your own films? Three 6 Mafia: Ain't nobody called us to be in one! It was the same thing with music, with the first album, so we just put our own money behind it. Shine: Are there any other projects you're working on? Three 6 Mafia: We got another movie comin' out on October 18th called The Cleanup Men. Shine: What would you most like to be remembered for in hip-hop? Three 6 Mafia: Creatin' crunk fight music! Makin some of the hottest beats out here like our song "Tear Da Club Up" and "Punch a Muthaf*cka in the Mouth!" ::AUDIO "Stay Fly'" featuring featuring Eightball & MJG and Young Buck! |
