Making The Band 4: Qwanell

What's it like to make the band? Shine caught up with one of this year's finalists, Qwanell, a.k.a. Que, to find out. The18-year-old New York native told us what was real and what was fake about Diddy's latest reality show project, who he never expected to leave, and why he thinks this band will finally be the one to make it to the top.

Shine: How much of what we see in the show is really what the process is like and how much is editing?

Que: I'd say 90 percent is really what it is, and 10 percent is editing.

Shine: Did Diddy really make it as tough for you guys as it seemed?

Que: Oh yeah. We really had to walk five boroughs for the cheesecake, and we had to run five miles every morning.

Shine: Did it surprise you that certain people didn't make it to the finals that you thought would have?

Que: Carlos. Because of his child, I thought Diddy would have understood. But I don't think Diddy knew...

Shine: Diddy's made other bands in the past that haven't been that successful. Does that bother you at all?

Que: I'm not concerned, because it's all about you and your drive. I believe in God, and God has the last word. This is different. This is, like, talent. We all work hard. We're hard workers. And if I'm in the band I'm gonna' make sure it's successful.

Shine: If you had to choose right now, who do you think would make the best members for the band?

Que: We're all so great, it's so hard. That's why Diddy--he can't choose himself. I think everybody deserves to walk away with something.

Shine: If you make the band, who would you like to be in the group with?

Que: I could be in the group with anybody, vocally. Personality-wise...some people have different personalities. Maybe it'll work...you never know.
